Chairmen of the Associations in Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, and Oyo States convened a news conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday, urging law enforcement to arrest Asefon for suspected corruption.
Specifically, Mr Olalere Samuel Owoseni, the NANS chairman in Lagos State, who read the address provided by the student leaders, said that Asefon lacks the moral standing and integrity to head a progressive organization like NANS given his background.
He said that Asefon had sullied NANS's dignity and honor in the past year of his leadership by unscrupulous conduct.
The students' leader further claimed that Asefon, who claims to be a Post Graduate student at Ekiti State University, was dismissed by the university's administration during his undergraduate days for suspected test permission fraud.
He challenged Asefon to present his first degree certificate if he actually graduated from Ekiti State University, claiming that the beleaguered NANS President was formerly employed as a security guard at an Ekiti State private polytechnic.
He stated that the NANS constitution only provides for a one-year single term, implying that Asefon must quit office after completing his tenure.
Owoseni, who advised Asefon not to represent the association in the future, also urged government officials at all levels not to interact with Asefon on NANS's behalf.
Furthermore, he urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), the police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to look into Asefon's alleged crimes since taking office as NANS President.
