Skip to contBarely twenty-four hours after the League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State ordered muslims to obey the government directives on the ban of high-density gathering in the state, some Islamic leaders were reported to have ignored the directives.
Investigation conducted by PLATFORMTIMES revealed that Jumat Service was observed in some areas in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.
Our reporter who witnessed the Jumat service of Oke-Sokori Central Mosque observed that, the gathering was above 50 people.
There was no presence of sanitizer, many were sighted with filthy cloths and odour from the toilet could cause epidemic.
Some people whose trousers were above their ankle were also sighted praying Jumat service at the mosque.
The two-story building mosque was fully occupied to the extent that some worshippers were sighted praying at the corridor of the mosque.
In his sermon, the mosque cleric identified as Imam, submitted that suspending mosque activities because of the fear of coronavirus was against the principles of Islam.
The cleric called on Muslims to move closer to Allah than having fear of contacting coronavirus.
He identified disobedience to the commandment of Allah as the cause of coronavirus.
The mosque were the Jumat service were observed include; Oke-Sokori Central Mosque, Abeokuta in Abeokuta North Local Government, Ibara Central Mosque, Ibara Housing, in Abeokuta South and Imam Hassan (Emere) Central Mosque, Leme , Abeokuta in Abeokuta South Local Government of Ogun State.
