TikTok simply won't go away.

According to a new tech research, the video-driven social networking app will be the most popular site in 2021, surpassing last year's top favorite Google.

According to statistics from online security company Cloudflare, TikTok even outranked other well-known domains that outranked it in 2020, such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, and Netflix.

Cloudflare discovered that TikTok, which rose from seventh to first place in Google in 2020, received some "assistance" from the epidemic, propelling the app to the top spot this year.

According to Cloudflare, TikTok and Google alternated for the top rank throughout the year, including in October and November, when Google ruled dominant.

On holidays such as Thanksgiving and Black Friday, TikTok progressively took over — and outranked Google.com, which includes Maps, Translate, Photos, Flights, Books, and News.

In 2021, TikTok was closely followed by Google, which was in second position, and Facebook, which was in third place. Apple and Microsoft rounded out the top five. Amazon was placed sixth, followed by Netflix, (7) YouTube, (8), Twitter (9) and WhatsApp, which was ranked tenth.

According to fresh study, TikTok has risen from seventh most popular site a year ago to first in 2021.

TikTok, which is extremely popular among the younger population, has spurred the creation of new platforms such as Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Triller. The viral app announced in September that it had reached 1 billion monthly active global users.

However, the Chinese-owned Tiktok, like other social media platforms, is being scrutinized by the authorities.

During a US congressional hearing in October, a TikTok official denied giving information to the Chinese government and stated that the company had taken precautions to protect US data.

Former President Donald Trump attempted to ban TikTok from US app stores, claiming that it gathered data from American users that China's government might get and represented a danger to US national security.

President Biden eventually rescinded Trump's order, but demanded a broader examination of numerous foreign-controlled applications.
