NEWS2023: Buhari discusses his future steps following the presidential election.

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed his plan for the conclusion of his presidency in 2023.

Buhari stated that after the 2023 presidential election, he will pass over power to his successor and return to his farm in Daura, Katsina State. The president spoke in Istanbul, Turkey, where he will attend the third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit, which is being hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to Buhari's spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari began the day by cutting his 79th birthday cake in national colors, green-white-green, before chairing a planning meeting with officials in his delegation and driving to the Dolmabahce Palace for a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Erdogan.

In response to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama's, tribute on the occasion on behalf of the ministers and the rest of the delegation, Shehu said the president will do his best for Nigeria until the last day, when he hands over to a successor and returns to his farm to tender crops and livestock in 2023.

"I assumed that by staying away from Abuja, I would be able to avoid these things." The Guards Brigade had written to let me know what they planned to accomplish on this particular day. You're doing this far away from home now.

"I'm looking forward to the year 2023 when I'll be finished and able to return home to take command of my farm." Between now and then, I will do all in my power to advance the interests of the nation and its people, as well as carry out my constitutionally mandated obligations.

"As he moved from his suite to the meeting room, President Buhari was greeted by a surprise lineup of the Nigerian delegation with a cake decked in Nigeria's national colors," he added.
