PRESS RELEASE ON THE LIBELOUS AND LIES AGAINST THE STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT OF OLABISI ONABANJO UNIVERSITY, AGO IWOYE.

Solidarity greetings to all Progressive Nigerian Students. The attention of the leadership of the Union has been brought to an attempted malicious release by some dull-witted sets of people ‘come and raids’ who claim to be Patriotic Nigerian students through The Daily Post, and other media outlets claiming to have a solidarity rally for Prof. Sidi Osho.

The leadership of the Union is made up of sound and intellectual comrades and not hooligans and it is not part of any sponsored rally and my office is not informed of such malicious act.

I received a call from the SA to Governor on Students Affairs, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez Amoo about his arrival on the campus community and the only agreement or discussion we had was about an attempt to erect a banner to welcome the Governor, which we agreed about and carefully placed at the entrance of the university gate. The self acclaimed NAOSS National President Com. Ogunronbi Gbemileke and myself met and he did not tell me about such malicious plan or movement but I am not aware as none of the students from my institution was involved in the movement.

On the part of my Dean Students Affairs, Dr. Oladunjoye is a man of integrity and high principle who believes that before the students which he is their "father as we popularly say" attempt to do anything, it is believed that his consents should be sought first and necessary guidelines will be given on the proceed of the event, and in an attempt to prevent embarrassment for his dear students from security operatives, he advised that the banner be folded and be moved from the premises to a better place, not knowing that those sets of people claiming to be students are hooligans.

Meanwhile, I wish to personally stand on the fact that the NANS JCC Ogun Chairman cannot come to my institution without my knowledge, so I believe everything said in the news is just fabricated to suit the mission of the enemies of peace and progress.

However, up till this moment Comr. Adeyemi Azeez has not reached out to me to explain why he carried out such an act without my consent and even with the so called students and not students from my institution and as a matter of fact till this moment, no renumeration/honorarium has been made to us from the Governor through him.

Olabisi Onabanjo University is now known for peace and development unlike the old days and we do not want anyone to use his hoggish nature to bastardise or commercialize the image of our dear union.

Conclusively, OOU Students Union body is an embodiment of progress and development and it is not against the appointment of our erudite and educationist per excellence in person of Prof. Sidi Osho.
